Frequently Asked Questions

What preparations should I make before the garage door installer arrives?

The garage should be cleared of cars, boxes and anything that could get in the way of the installer. Pets should be secured elsewhere when installation is being done. Taking time to clean the garage after clearing it out gives the installer an open space to work with. The garage should also be well lit.

Can I paint my garage door?

Yes. Use a good exterior paint. Raynor Garage Door uses Sherwin-Williams paint.

Which garage door is better: steel or wood?

Steel is better. Steel doors require less maintenance and are longer-lasting. In addition, they are more secure than wooden doors. If you are looking for a particular style or design, however, a wooden garage door may be better suited for your home or business.

What kind of light should my garage have?

A bulb of 65-75 Watt will give provide adequate lighting.

How often should I lubricate my garage door?

Lubricant should be applied at least once a year, when the garage door starts squeaking or won't open or close smoothly.

What kind of lubrication should I use on my garage door?

You shouldn’t use grease to lubricate your garage or overhead door because it tends to build up and can interfere with the smooth opening of the door. Instead, use a lubricant intended for garage doors, like white lithium grease, silicone-based lubricants or WD-40.

What could be causing my garage door to not close all the way?

You should have the sensors, safety photo eyes on the door and the springs checked; they may have become misaligned. Or, the problem may be much simpler, like the garage door remote may need its batteries replaced.

Do you offer garage or overhead door warranties?
Willow Creek Overhead Door offers a three-month installation warranty for residential and commercial doors. The door itself carries a manufacturer's warranty for color and product quality.

Will I have to replace the tracks if I get a new garage door?
If the track is damaged and cannot be repaired, then a new one will be necessary. Otherwise, the old one can still be used.

How do I get the MyQ app for my garage door?
To get the LiftMaster MyQ app, go to the app store on your mobile phone or smart device. Your opener has to be MyQ capable, however. To find out if your opener is MyQ capable, contact your local garage door dealer.
